Avenida Dom Emanuel como eixo estruturador urbano: requalificação, conforto ambiental e qualidade de vida em Senador Canedo

Abstract

This undergraduate thesis analyzes Avenida Dom Emanuel, in Senador Canedo (GO), as an urban structuring axis and proposes its requalification through the lens of humancentered design, environmental comfort, and improved quality of life. Based on authors such as Lewis Mumford, Jane Jacobs, Milton Santos, and Timothy Oke, the work critiques the dominant car-centric urban model and advocates for interventions that prioritize human scale and livability. The methodology combines bibliographic review, historical and spatial analysis, and case studies, including Medellín’s Green Corridors, São Paulo’s Tiquatira Linear Park, and the Sétimo Céu Park in Passo Fundo. The diagnostic phase identified critical issues regarding vegetation, urban furniture, and accessibility along the avenue, hindering its public use. The proposed intervention includes native tree planting, inclusive infrastructure, integration between drainage and vegetation, and the promotion of active mobility. This project envisions Avenida Dom Emanuel as a sustainable, inclusive, and vibrant urban corridor, aligned with contemporary urban planning principles.
