Resumo
The purpose of this research is to investigate the relationship between childhood and digital technologies, aiming to understand some implications of excessive screen use by children. A qualitative bibliographic study was conducted, based on authors such as Ariès (1986), Kishimoto (1996), Haidt (2024), Escobar (2024), among others. This study is divided into sections, the first being the Introduction. In the Second Section, based on Ariès (1986), the process of forming the concept of the childhood feeling will be discussed, alongside the elements of a children's culture where games, toys, and playful activities are highlighted through the perspective of Kishimoto (1996) in order to also consider objects related to digital technologies. In the Third Section, based on the studies of Haidt (2024), Escobar (2024), and recent research, some implications of hyperconnection and the use of digital technologies by children will be discussed, as well as
certain consequences of excessive screen time. The research findings highlight social deprivation, sleep deprivation, and fragmented attention as the main consequences of excessive screen use, alongside the economic interests that sustain children's hyperconnection. Finally, in the Final Considerations, opportunities for further studies in the field of childhood and digital technology are highlighted
