Item Entre a cultura popular e a resistência: a trajetória de Lina Bo Bardi e Hélio Oiticica(2021) Aleixo, Paulo Arthur Silva; Caixeta, Eline Maria Mora PereiraIn the beginning of the 1960s, the period around the coup d'état in Brazil, there was a singular moment when arts and architecture professionals were interested in leaving their strict spheres, taking a political stand by rethinking cultural production, and aiming to strengthen their relationship with the popular strata and challenge the established situation. In this context, among several agents, the Italian-Brazilian architect Lina Bo Bardi (Rome, 1914 – São Paulo, 1992) and the Rio de Janeiro artist Hélio Oiticica (Rio de Janeiro, 1937 – Rio de Janeiro, 1980) appear as protagonists in the construction of a thought that sought, above all, ways to question the status quo. Acting in different places and belonging to different generations and fields of activity, their trajectories have never crossed, despite the strong affinity among their convictions. Thus, this work seeks to mobilize a reflection on the interlocutions between the productions of Bo Bardi and Oiticica, on one hand, and popular culture, on the other, recognizing this approach as a form of resistance to the difficult reality during the Brazilian military dictatorship. To this end, some activities are placed in the same perspective for analysis, aiming to contribute to the image of a powerful cultural phenomenon that fought for greater social and political engagement.
