Resumo
The newspaper newsrooms have changed their physical and organizational structures in
order to adapt to technological innovations, new demands of labor market, and changing profiles of
audiences. In this monograph, there is a content analysis of home pages and printed covers of six
large newspapers: The New York Times, The Washington Post, Ottawa Citizen, Toronto Star, Folha
de S. Paulo and O Estado de Sao Paulo. Based on records made by the application Google Insights
for Search, this research pondered the use of keywords listed as "top searches" and "rising searches"
used on the printed covers and on the home pages of the newspapers mentioned. Another point
considered was the presence of news values on the keywords used. The results showed that, in most
cases studied, the home pages had used more keywords than the print covers of their respective
medium. Furthermore, almost half of the home pages studied had a greater presence of keywords
not related to news values than keywords with news values aggregated.
