Resumo
This paper presents a comparative study the speed controlled dc motor drive fed by
either, a fully controlled three-phase rectifier or Chopper. The control system is done in two
loops, an inner one for the armature current and the outer one for the speed. The regulators
are the Proportional-Integral type, which gains have been adjusted such as saturation is
avoided, keeping the whole system linear. For comparison, the controller gains were kept the
same for both control systems. Simulation results are presented showing the difference in
terms of response for the two different speed control approaches.
