Resumo
This work aims to investigate and discuss, from studies, the use of digital
devices by children aged 0 to 5 years, related to exposure to screens and their power to
impair development and learning, at this stage of life and so that it is possible to minimize
the effects of these technologies for the construction of learning. This is qualitative
bibliographic research based on studies and references related to the theme as well as in
theoretical sources such as articles, books and academic research. It is thought that a
scientific production on this topic is an indicator of its social and academic
importance.The main references analyzed in this work were “Screen time and first
childhood”, by Colman and Proença (2020), “The child from 0 to 3 years old and the
digital world” by Fernandes, Einstein and Silva (2019) and the book “The digital cretin
factory” by Frenchman Michel Desmurget (2019). To discuss how learning and
development takes place in this age group, the theorists approached were: Vygotsky and
Leontiev. In addition to these, we will bring Kishimoto's (2002, 2003 e 2017)
considerations about the act of playing. To achieve the objective, this work is divided into
three chapters: on the first, it'’s analyzed what has been discussed on the subject in
question; the second chapter reflects on the use of digital devices and on learning and
child development; the third and last chapter refers to the rescue of play and ludic for
children's lives, as a means of fully developing themselves. Thus, this work reflects on the
importance of body movement, traditional games and adequate stimuli for children, which
cannot be replaced by the time they spend in front of the screens.
