Resumo
This study consists of a qualitative research with an interpretative basis of
document analysis and aims at discussing the conceptions of reading, language and gender
in the Portuguese Language Reference Curriculum developed by the Education Secretary of
Goiás (2012), for high school, in order to reflect on the way these conceptions have been
brought to the classroom by the teacher. The discussions raised in the document point to a
teaching of reading and writing through discourse gender conceptions based on Bakhtin
(2003), Bakhthin / Volochinov (2006), however, these concepts are shown in a very restricted
way, which makes it prescriptive, leading us to think about the possibility of using the discursive
genre as a pretext for reading and writing.
