Resumo
The article discusses challenges and difficulties in writing the history of
education in brazilian regional societies that are commonly represented as sertão
or border and proposes a question about the effects of these representations for
the identification, preservation and interpretation of research sources. The prime
focus of observation is the state of Goiás, represented as backward and primitive
and at the same time, place national unity and source of wealth of the nation. The ext speaks to the historiography of education in Brazil and Goiás pointing to the
wealth of the methods of discourse analysis for reading and research sources of
alternating scales to interpret the history of education in remote areas of Brazil.
