Resumo
Beef production is one of the main economic activities in the Brazilian state of Goiás. The present paper analyses the competitiveness of this chain segment through drivers of competi-tiveness and its sub-factors. Each driver is composed by a set of sub-factors, totaling six drivers and 49 sub-factors. Each sub-factor received a score using a Likert scale. This scale varied from -2 (very unfavo-rable) to +2 (very favorable). The evaluation was done from the point of view of exporting slaughterhou-ses and key informants. In the results, three drivers were evaluated from neutral to favorable and three from neutral to unfavorable. The drivers (a) Agricultural Inputs, (b) Logistics and Distribution, and the (c) Rearing, Growing and Fattening Process, were positively evaluated. The drivers of (a) Farm Manage-ment, (b) Organizational and Institutional Environment and the (c) Market Relations, however, appear to be factors that limit competitiveness. Such drivers have problems and require actions both from chain agents as well as from support institutions and government.
