Resumo

This work addresses the theme “Public politics, citizenship and early childhood education: Challenges and Possibilities in the current context of Brazil''. In order to analyze early childhood education as a formative space for the exercise of citizenship, a bibliographical and documentary research was carried out with a qualitative approach to the data from the perspective of the explanatory analysis technique and divided into five items. The works analyzed relate critical theory and early childhood education and are available in previously chosen repositories. The legal frameworks that define early childhood education as a child's right were also analyzed, seeking to identify the main factors that impede the guarantee of this education as a right and that hinder the implementation and enforcement of public policies already developed for this stage of education. The research results focus on four of the main difficulties in implementing an education for the formation of the reflective and autonomous individual in the current context of Brazil, as well as the individual choice of each educator for an emancipatory pedagogical practice and the possibility of developing training for the exercise of emancipated citizenship. in the educational spaces of the public early childhood education system Based on the analyses, the theoretical framework contributes to thinking about a formative educational process for the emancipation and exercise of citizenship. The importance of the work lies in the analysis of society, which draws attention to the importance of considering the social, cultural and economic context as a scenario to be questioned, rethought and possible to be transformed and not perceived as something ready and finished to which we must ourselves adapt.
