Resumo
This study aimed to understand the relevance of art to the teaching and learning
processes of people with visual impairments, from the perspective of CAP/CEBRAV teachers.
In this sense, through an exploratory research, we collected data that contributed to a better
understanding of the subject in question. To analyze the data collected from the
questionnaires, we used the Historical-Cultural Theory, proposed by Vygotsky and
collaborators, especially from the work of this Belarusian author entitled Psychology of Art.
Therefore, through this study, we seek evidence that made it possible to understand the
importance of art for the teaching and learning processes of the visually impaired person, as
well as the approaches and methodologies that favored these teaching and learning
processes. As a result we have that, through the teaching of art carried out with an adequate
mediation by the teachers, the visually impaired person, as well as any sighted person, is able
to achieve great deeds. In this sense, it is understood that the teaching of art adapted for
people with visual impairment is of great importance, as it promotes the development of
motor and spatial skills, in addition, it contributes significantly to their teaching and learning
in general, also favoring their social development and autonomy.
