Resumo
Displays the students Information Literacy in the form of Distance Education from the
Universidade Federal de Goiás. With these two studies highlighted in the areas of Information
Science and Education, respectively, brings through a quantitative approach, data on these
two topics, with a primary focus on informational literacy. Covers the beginning of the
Distance Education and its history in Brazil and the world, bringing also the emergence of the
Information Literacy In the literature of Information Science, its development and main
studies. Uses asassessment instrument an adaptation of IL-HUMASS, consisting of 28 selfevaluative
items, each having the dimensions importance and self-effectiveness, and divided
into five groups. The results show that the dimension importance was better evaluated that the
dimension self-efficacy, in all items. They also indicate that students of Distance Education
modality presents difficulties in the communication group and dissemination of information,
which obtained the lowest ratings. Separates items of research groups in the Patterns created
by the Association of College and Research Libraries (ACRL) and compares. Obtains as
result a difference relatively lower between the means of two dimensions by group when
items are separated by ACRL standards. In conclusion, presenting difficulties found in the
research execution, such as the low amount of data collected, indicating problems in the
assessment tool and suggesting further deepening in research on informational literacy
oriented to distance education students.
