Resumo
The present work addresses the relationship between the childhood and digital
media, seeking to understand the benefits and inconveniences arising from this
relationship. The methodology used was exploratory research with descriptive
episodes. Data collection and analysis was carried out through bibliographical
research. Based on the cultural-historical theory of Vygotsky (2003), the media
theory of Martino (2014) and its implications for society clarified by Santaella
(2003), it was possible to establish a relationship between child development,
today mediated by digital media and the formation of individual thoughts with
reflections on current society. To reach that conclusion, it was necessary to
describe the history and sociology of childhood through studies of Heywood
(2004), Stearns (2006), Buckingham (2006).
