Resumo

The present research aimed to study the Informational Behaviour of students from the Information Management Course at the Federal University of Goiás - FIC / UFG. For methodology purposes, the research was applied with students who have entered the course at the first semester of 2013. It´s been classified as exploratory and descriptive. Its sample consists of 21 students from the same course. They were placed into two different groups. Group A was composed by students who had lower scores global averages of the said course (under 5.9) and group B was composed by students who obtained higher scores global averages of the said course (above 6.0). As data gathering instrument, it was used the questionnaire. Regarding the informational behaviour, the informational source most used for the search of information is the Internet (through research mechanisms such as Google and others). Starting at UFG is a fact which made a impressive impact among the lives of these students, since on group A 79% and on group B 71% of them have confirmed changes in their study´s methodology. The frequency in which they use the library presents itself as a negative factor, since on group A 49% have never used this facility, or don´t remember to have used it or have used it only once a month and on group B 72% don´t recall to have ever been into the library or have used it only once. Regarding the use of information, data reveals that these students do not use information on a higher complexity degree. Therefore, on this matter, 51% of the students from group A and 54% from group B use information in the levels between 1 to 4. Such use states lower complexity, since it regards clearing (information is used in order to develop a context or to give meaning to a situation); understanding of a problem (information is used to develop a better understanding of a specific problem); instrumental (information is used to identify what to do and how to do it); as a fact (information is used to state facts of a phenomenon or event). The most incident block, among the percentuals in this particular item was the financial one, since on group A 35% marked alternatives that indicate such difficulty and on group B 50% have confirmed such difficulty. From the analysis it´s concluded that the students´ informational behaviour could improve on quality and the comprehension of informational proficiency strategies could be an alternative to make it happen. The data collected do not show a direct relation between informational behaviour and the higher or lower scores of the students.
