Resumo

Based on the methodological assumptionsof Plantin and Grácio’s argumentation theory (2008, 2016,2010,2012), this paper looks at argumentative stasisas an implication of dialectical points at issue in ENEM compositions whose main theme is ‘human rights violations’. In this theoretical landscape, the interaction between the examining board, the examinees and their grades will be analyzed in seven excerpts from compositions written in 2015 on “The endemic violence against women” and nine excerpts from compositions written in 2016 on “How to fight religious intolerance in Brazil”. The concepts of argumentative stasis, topoiand doxai anchored in Christian Plantin’s argumentation theory together with the excerpts granted by INEP provide the background to analyze the way through which the construction of a position that hurts human rights creates argumentative stasisand how the correction process interferes with that stasis. Such correlations are particularly relevant in the realm of discourse as they materialize intertwining concepts regarding argumentative stasis and arguers’ dialogic perspectives.
