This article presents a brief survcy of thc démarche of the American historiography and thc teaching of the History of lhe America in Brazil. li points out lhree aspec1s: lhe founding images of Amcrica in the American hisloriography; lhe Brazilian composed imagcs of lhe Latin America; the influence of these images in lhe American studies.
