Resumo

The issue of academic literacies deficit, observed in the transition from high school students to higher education, it is one of our concerns. Therefore, this study aims to present conclusions about teaching and learning actions of genres and discourse developed in a group of students of the first period of the Bachelor's Degree in Languages in 2014. The research has developed reading practices and writing of academic genres production such as summary, scheme, book reports and glossary. The research harnesses specifically to assess the development of linguistic and cognitive capacity in the production of oral and written texts and takes as theoretical assumptions the conceptions of language and genre in Bakhtin (2003) and Marcuschi (2008) and Rojo (2008) it notes Kleiman’s (1995) and Smith’s (2002) literacy conceptions and literacies in Lea and Street (2014) and Bezerra (2012). The methodology of participant observation allowed the researcher to act in mediating the learning. Working with genres allowed a conceptual enrichment of academics, but also a maturity as the use of genres, not in isolation, but in interlocked relationship with good literacies in academic genres.
