Resumo
Narratives about regionality emerge
most clearly in contexts of alleged dif ferentiation in the face of cultural stan dardization tendencies. The identities
involved in these discourses are reflect ed in various aspects of society, from
projects of tourist formatting to educa tional spaces. In this text, we seek to un derstand the influence of these narra tives on the historical ideas built by
students when they reach the final stage
of elementary school (9th grade), in a
specific region located in the central eastern portion of state of Rio Grande
do Sul: the Taquari Valley. From the
theoretical and methodological frame works of History Education, we analyze
the narratives of 542 students about the
history of the place where they live,
building four categories of interpreta tion of the ideas present in these elabo rations: presentist, ethnocentric, multi cultural and intercultural.
