Resumo
This work aims to analyze the role of the family and the early childhood education institution
in the child's development and learning. A bibliographic research was carried out to support
the concepts of family, learning, development and early childhood education, in which the
importance of play activity in the development of preschool children was evidenced. The
Vygotskian perspective was adopted to explain the historical-social-dialectical relationship
between the child's learning and development processes. In addition to Vygotsky, Leontiev
and Luria, dialogue was held with other researchers on the subject. The influence of the
relationship between family and educational institution on learning and development
processes was analyzed. The distortion of the roles of these institutions and the lack of
understanding of the importance of early childhood education were identified as
contradictions. It was found that for the best development and learning of the child,
partnership and exchange of experiences between family and early childhood education
institution is necessary, in addition to respect and recognition between these two social
environments.
