Resumo
The aim of the present article is to present and discuss that which could
be called exile criticism which is based on translation studies. It stems from Goethe’s
World Literature concept, which relies on translation between national literatures to
take place. From Benjamin’s and Glissant’s translation concepts, we have carried out
an analysis of the boundaries between literary studies and translation studies today,
and we have verified a resignification of the World Literature idea. Thus, we have
resorted to Said’s Worldliness concept in order to apprehend the metaphor of Exile as
a literary reading practice, one that is aware of language contacts without giving in to,
nevertheless, the identitarianisms that replaced nationalisms throughout the 20th
century.
