Resumo

The species Camellia sinensis, popularly known as green tea, Indian tea or "green tea", belongs to the family Theaceae. The leaves of C. sinensis have about 30% of phenolic compounds, among which flavonoids are the main therapeutic chemical components of this class with antioxidant potential, acting as free radical scavengers, metal chelators and lipoperoxidation inhibitors. The main components present in the species C.sinensis have chemoprotective, anticarcinogenic, anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, photoprotective, astringent, regenerating and also effective in the treatment of dark circles. The aim of the present work was the production of the liquid extract of Camellia sinensis and evaluation of its antioxidant potential. The characterization of C. sinensis was carried out by determining the granulometry of the powders, swelling index, total ash, volatile content and total phenol dosage of the plant drug. In the liquid extract, analysis of the content of solids, content of total phenols, flavonoids, and analysis of the antioxidant power of the extract through the methods of capture of the radical DPPH and ABTS was also carried out. In the characterization of the vegetable drug, the determination of the granulometry defined the powder as coarse moderation and an intumescence index of 3.36 ± 0.05 was obtained for water and 1.9 ± 0.1 for ethanol 50% (v/v) as a swelling agent. The content of total ash, volatile compounds and total phenols of the powder was 5.11% ± 0.005, 5.14% ± 0.14, and 0.221% ± 0.13, respectively. The hydroalcoholic extract had a solids content of 6.29% ± 0.1, a total phenol content of 4.82% ± 0.002 (m / v), and a flavonoid content of 0.95% ± 0.1 (m / v). The analysis of the extract's antioxidant potential showed an IC50 of 0.129 mg / mL in the capture of the DPPH radical and 388.47 μM trolox / g in the ABTS radical capture method. Due to the antioxidant capacity of green tea extract, its use has been increasingly explored for cosmetic application because, in addition to being easy to obtain, it is a very beneficial natural antioxidant, being an option as a substitute for synthetic assets.
