Resumo
This article discusses concepts of Biodiversity Corridors in Brazil, the history of its creation and the
reasons for its implementation. It provides examples and sets the regulatory aspects and pathways
thought to become viable in the country, and forms of management. It further states that, in the
case of a strategy to conserve biodiversity at the ecosystem scale harmonized together with human
activities, Biodiversity Corridors are able to form large mosaics articulated in a network, based upon
the implantation of physical-biotic connectivity bridges of between conservation areas to enable
the flow biotic. It highlights that the strategy for its implementation should involve all social actors
and should draw attention to the fact that although they are not political and administrative units,
the corridors are embedded in defined social areas, mainly the challenges for their deployment,
especially those related to the paradigms of existing production systems, calling the government to
encourage their creation.
