Resumo
Videogames provide interactive and immersive multimedia experiences, in which the participation of the player is essential. Also, the artistic scope of this contemporary media – called gameart – proposes a critical and reflexive broadening about the act of playing, using elements from games to provide such appreciations. Taking these aspects into consideration and looking to value Brazilian folklore and encourage nature preservation awareness, this theoretical-practical research presents a production of an educational gameart work, uniting comic books techniques with a Pixel Art aesthetic. The investigation is contextualized with a brief introduction to the history of videogames and the origin of comic books. Next, some of the main environmental problems in Brazil are emphasized, followed by a brief presentation of the folklore tales presented in the gameart object created: O Boné do Saci (The Hat of the Saci) – intentionally developed exclusively for the Android platform -, being available for download² at the Google Play Store in its current update version. The final part of the investigation deals with aspects related to the development process of the game itself, describing elements pertaining to gameplay and game mechanics.
