Resumo
YouTube is the most accessed sites in the world, the platform has several interactivity and
information sharing tools, legacies of the emergence of Web 2.0. Cyberspace allowed social issues
to gain more visibility, as well as ethnic-racial relations, one of the main issues discussed in this
work. In this perspective, the following research proposed to investigate YouTube as a tool to help
students as a source of information for an anti-racist education. Considering that education is one
of the ways to combat social ills, such as racism, the study has the general objective of analyzing
the YouTube platform as a source of educational information in the promotion of anti-racist
education in school libraries. And as specific objectives: to present the importance of YouTube as a
source of educational information on ethnic-racial relations; expose the role of the librarian in
helping and disseminating anti-racist information and content in the school library environment;
discuss how YouTube can assist in the students' learning process for an anti-racist education and
understand how the platform can help in the reconstruction of a positive black image for students.
It establishes as a methodology for the development of the work, a bibliographic research with a
qualitative approach and of a basic nature. It understands that the school library can be a space that
promotes diversity and a more democratic education. With this, the YouTube platform, from its
videos, is an informational source that can help librarians in this sense. Indicates the survey of 23
channels presented by the Black Voices Fund on YouTube, as a source of anti-racist information
for school libraries. It defends the importance of using these channels in a school environment,
through the sample of videos defined in the body of this work. It concludes that the contents
presented here show that social reflections and black representation, in prominent spaces such as
YouTube, are important for the reconstruction of a positive black identity, denied to the black
population throughout history.
