Resumo

This article intend to analyze Mia Couto’s tale Na tal noite, considering the phonetic-phonological, morphological, lexical and syntactic levels of the text for the production of meaning, to exemplify a possibility of integration in the teaching of Portuguese language. The teaching of Portuguese language are generally without direct connection, which makes it difficult for the student to understand logically the application of certain grammatical theories in many language situations, including literature. This way, been supported on the functionalist perspective, we tried to demonstrate how, in a short story, it is possible to identify meaning effect creations from linguistic resources. The results showed that Mia Couto is a contemporary master in using language resources to produce meaning effects. Furthermore, the research revealed that the critical reading of literary texts favors the student’s understanding of the importance of grammar and literature, so that language and literature can be seen and analyzed as integrated fields.
