Resumo
The present study was designed to evaluate the
changes in the cervico-vaginal microbiota during the period
between 27 days before until 58 days after parturition in 23
Girolando cows. The cervico-vaginal mucus was collected
with 14 days intervals, except the period between the day
of parturition and two days after. Bacteriological culture
was performed for 117 samples and 101 isolations were
achieved. Negative cultures were concentrated mainly
during the period before parturition (58,8%) and the final of
puerperium (44,4%), but from the day or parturition until
the 16th day after all of the samples were positive for bacterial
cultive and isolation. The agents isolated were: Escherichia
coli (27,72%), Staphylococcus coagulase negative (21,78%),
Staphylococcus coagulase positive (1,98%), Streptococcus
spp. (19,80%), Corynebacterium spp. (7,92%),
Corynebacterium bovis (3,98%), Bacillus spp. (6,98%),
Pseudomonas spp. (3,96%), Enterobacter aerogenes
(1,98%), Actinomyces pyogenes (1,98%), Citrobacter
freundii (0,99%) and Citrobacter amalonaticus (0,99%).
Primiparous females showed more positive samples during
the time of puerperium, suggesting an association between
the age of the animal and the sensivity to bacterial
colonization of the reproductive tract.
