Resumo

The objective of this work was to study the conceptual profile zones as a strategy to evaluate learning about chemical and physical transformations. It was planned a didactic strategy addressing physical and chemical transformations using the "garbage" generator theme, and applied in five high schools in Jataí and Goiânia cities, both in Goiânia State, Brazil. The students' learning was evaluated using areas of conceptual profile under adapted conditions. Also related were the conceptual profiles achieved by students at the school they attend. Of the 46 students who participated in the evaluation of the strategy, 18 presented a conceptual profile "Confuso", 15 of them, with a conceptual profile "Kitchen"; And 13 with "Mechanical" profile. It was evidenced that more than 70% of students, even after class or didactic strategy, still had incoherent conceptual profiles. Although the conceptual profiles were considered adequate to evaluate students' performance on the subject, it was noticed that the didactic strategy was not efficient to promote the learning about the subject for the students.
