Resumo
The aim of this study was to identify and analyze perceptions of
teachers and students from a language center on speaking skill in L2. The approach
used was a qualitative case study, whose data were generated from questionnaires,
narrative texts and semi-structured interviews from teacher and students at the
language center. The results reveal the importance of fluency, along with the
influence of emotional and physiological aspects in the L2 speech even though
teachers and students demonstrate that they partially understand these aspects. It is
worth mentioning that teachers are more sensitive to the role of the emotional
aspects and also the importance of the opportunities for practicing L2 in order to
develop speaking skills in L2.
