Background:
The painful symptoms of musculoskeletal system is the most common way to alert the body
when it has some injury or overload can be caused by misuse and overuse of body systems. Among many
professions, the professional class composed of university teachers is one of suffering numerous risks causing
musculoskeletal pain, such as lack of resources and manpower, increase the pace and intensity of work.
Objectives: The objective of this study was to determine the incidence of musculoskeletal pain in university
teacher. Methods: The sample was composed of 36 faculty members at the University of Green River, of
both sexes, aged between 20 and 60 years. Initially the participants underwent an interview comprised questions
concerning personal information, data on pain and issues related to profession analyzed, completed
the first stage proceeded to fill the Nordic Questionnaire for the assessment and measurement of musculoskeletal
pain. Results: The data obtained, it was found that the musculoskeletal pain were observed most
frequently in the lower back, neck and shoulder, in this sequence. It was also no significant correlation between
workload and pain, as well as the height, time and workload with the onset of musculoskeletal pain.
Discussion: According to the sample, it can be inferred that the incidence of musculoskeletal pain in teachers
is high, regardless of age, height, time and workload, musculoskeletal pain is always present in academics.
