Resumo
ARREPIART is a project that focuses on the use of Brazilian folklore legends in educational contexts and their social relevance. It’s main objective is to develop an initial prototype of an artbook (a compilation of content related to an artist, theme, or, more commonly, a media work such as a film, series, video game, or fictional universe). The content of the artbook includes various images related to the theme of the book (illustrations, sketches, poses, facial expressions, among others) and contains entirely national elements, exploring the playful-cultural aspects of characters and monsters from Brazilian folklore legends. It aims to highlight the multi-regional setting while addressing the social issues present in the narratives of these legends, utilizing the playful nature of Character Design in conjunction with Social Design, a field that seeks national design representation. As a physical product, ARREPIART explores the potential of illustration as a tool for discussion, specifically within the realm of concept art. The methodology used is ARREPIART, created by the authors based on two other methodologies: Rocha's (2023) conceptual creativity-focused methodology for character creation and Fuentes' (2006) methodology for the technical conception of the artbook. Thus, this thesis addresses topics, such as the importance of folklore in education as a tool for cultural valorization, the prominent role and engagement that social design carries, as well as the results obtained, which include a 114-page Artbook, with 5 chapters dedicated to five (05) Brazilian legends and their contemporary reimagined versions created by the authors themselves.
