Resumo
The present article is the result of the planning and development of a discipline created to discuss the transformations of the matter and to implement Law 10,639 / 2003. The objective of this work was to conceive, design and develop a strategy of teaching chemistry which reflects the heterogeneity of knowledge in accordance to
the perspective of Law 10,639 / 2003. The study is based on teaching chemistry from Afro-Brazilian and African epistemic contributions. This is a participant
research in which thirty high school students took part of. The empirical results are related to soap synthesis, the chemistry of soaps and detergents, the
concepts of intermolecular forces and surface tension in the context of Afro-Brazilian religiosity. Our results showed that the students understood the scientific
knowledge in question: chemistry.
