Resumo
The research proposal presented here concerns how gender relations occur in
the climbing practices in the State of Goiás, which is a growing activity that differs from
traditional practices. To elucidate the research, the collection and analysis of the data used
were based on qualitative research with content and discourse analysis, surveys were
carried out on indoor gyms and outdoor natural places where climbing is practiced. At
first, a literature review was carried out on the subject, and secondly, data was collected
using an online questionnare to be filled by the practitioners and field observations.
Subsequently, an analysis was made of the data, the profile (cultural, social and
economic) of the climbers, linking theory to concrete reality and providing contributions
for the promotion of public policies and actions for the development of climbing in the
state of Goiás, with the respective evolution of the entire socio-economic chain related to
it, as well as for the academic and school community. The analysis and description of the data allowed us to understand how women have taken a leading role in recent years in
climbing in Goiás, and as they have common identifications with elements of the culture
that express similar values and lifestyle, the climbing community has shown itself to be
welcoming and there was a lot of emphasis on the need for debates about gender relations
in these spaces and greater encouragement from public authorities.
