Resumo
This research proposes a study of the theatrical pieces written by the Morrinhos-born teacher,
writer, poet, playwright, and theater scholar Zilda Diniz Fontes, with emphasis on the text ELA
(1973), which we will stage in parallel with the writing of the dissertation. Zilda Diniz has left
an important legacy in the city of Morrinhos, contributing to its cultural development and
integrating theater into the daily lives of the population. The path to developing this study
involved several stages. First, we focused on a theoretical foundation surrounding the notions
of memory, biography, and memoir works, aiming to analyze our sources in a substantial way.
Next, we provided a historical context for the city of Morrinhos, located in the interior of the
state of Goiás, and its early theatrical activities, led by Juquinha Diniz. After that, we arrived at
the biography of Zilda Diniz, analyzing her history in theater and the theater in her history,
highlighting her own plays and understanding her characteristics as a playwright. We conclude
the study by reviewing the experiences gained from the process of staging the play ELA (1973),
textually and visually exhibiting all the details behind its construction. Our intention with this
research stemmed from the need to connect writing with theatrical practice, expanding
knowledge about Zilda Diniz's productions to various possible fields. In this way, we aim to
contribute to discussions related to the Theater in Goiás, while also engaging with the artistic
practice of our contemporary scene through the performances of the play.
