Resumo
This dissertation focuses on the city of Goiânia, examining it through the lens of the teaching of Goiás History, with Kevin Lynch as the main theoretical-methodological reference. The aim is to analyze the image of the capital as perceived by 8th and 9th grade elementary school students from Escola Municipal Madre Francisca, located in Vila Pedroso. By means of sketch drawings of various routes and the application of questionnaires, the research investigates students’ perceptions of the city’s image before and after pedagogical visits to central sites in Goiânia—places considered foundational to the planned city’s origins—as well as other routes, including the areas between home and school. The objective is to identify the image of the city based on lived spaces, current architecture, and imagistic narratives about its founding. The study seeks to relate the most vivid aspects of the city for these observers’ memories and whether these coincide with the city image envisioned by urban planners. Concepts such as image, memory, monument, city, center, and periphery will be employed. As a propositional element, the project includes constructing a visual representation of the city based on student perceptions to be published on a website, along with supporting texts on the researched theme and didactic sequences developed during the research project.
