Resumo
This dissertation investigates the intellectual trajectory of Mark Fisher (1968-2017), focusing on his early production and the experimental roots of his thought. The research is based on the premise that the Brazilian reception, by consolidating a reading primarily focused on political praxis and the critique of neoliberalism, marginalized the author's early writings, which exhibit a theoretical and experimental potency distinct from that seen in his phase of greater visibility. Through the lens of Intellectual History, the study develops from an analysis of Fisher's critical reception in Brazil and the construction of its meanings. Subsequently, we examine his involvement in the Cybernetic Culture Research Unit (CCRU), including musical production and the debate on accelerationism. Finally, the study turns its attention to his doctoral thesis, Flatline Constructs (1999), focusing on the concepts of Gothic Materialism and Theory-Fiction. It is concluded that Fisher’s early thought, contrary to the image of incipience fostered by its reception, constitutes a decisive space of experimentation for his philosophical project and for the nuances of his critique of contemporary culture.
