O Anarquismo Misterioso de Max Nettlau: um projeto de Insubordinação e Renovação da Cultura

Abstract

The cultural and engaged orientation of the anarchist historian Max Nettlau (1865–1944) is emphasized. In this vein, his notion of a “mysterious anarchism” would designate an open-ended project for the various libertarian epithets (Panarchy), aimed at addressing the unpredictabilities of the post-revolutionary context. The supporting bibliography used comprises all available sources, especially those by Rudolf Rocker, Manfred Burazerovic, and Bert Altena. The work is divided into three main parts: The Limits of Mystery, Insubordination, and Cultural Renewal. The Limits address the intellectual causes and effects of the notion of mystery. Insubordination presents the rational and ethical dimension of the anarchist individual. Cultural Renewal, in turn, relates to the aesthetic-creative, tactical, and operational elements of the project. Finally, it is concluded that Nettlau sought to rationalize anarchist militancy in order to increase the efficiency of its dissemination.
