dc.description.abstractThe present research analyzes the presence of the euhemerism philosophy in the work Divine Institutes of Lactantius, in order to identify the rationalist apologetics regarding the origin of the gods of the ancient Roman religion. The author was a Christian apologist in the 4th century AD. And wrote several works, among them Divine Institutes. One of the argumentative axes of this work is based on the appropriation of euhemerism, which is the conventional designation for the thought of Euhemerus, an author who probably lived in the 4th century BC. And wrote the work Sacred History. Evemerism consists of the theory that the ancient gods were men deified by their great deeds, but that they were, however, just ordinary human beings. The rationalization of the gods of the ancient Roman religion is an aspect that permeates lactational thinking in the rejection of paganism and in the defense of Christianity. Our hypothesis is that, Lactantius appropriated Euhemerus´s philosophy to build an argument aimed at legitimizing Christian monotheism and his argument is associated with the transformations of the religious practices of the beginning of the 4th century AD in the Roman Empire. The hermeneutics of documentation observed processes of appropriation of discourse with which the relationship with euhemerist philosophy is constructed and the use of rhetorical discourses in the reformulation of paradigms based on ancient culture and philosophy, in the reorganization and accommodation of assumptions in order to legitimize others venerations, other myths, other rituals, an undertaking that reflected a specific demand of the period´s religiosity.eng

dc.description.resumoA presente pesquisa analisa a presença da filosofia evemerista na obra Divinas Instituições de Lactâncio, a fim de identificar a apologética racionalista a respeito da origem dos deuses da antiga religião romana. O autor foi apologeta cristão no século IV d. C. e escreveu várias obras, entre elas Divinas Instituições. Um dos eixos argumentativos dessa obra se apoia na apropriação do evemerismo que é a designação convencional ao pensamento de Evêmero, um autor que viveu, provavelmente, no século IV a. C. e escreveu a obra História Sagrada. O evemerismo se consiste na teoria de que os deuses antigos foram homens divinizados por seus grandes feitos, mas que, contudo, não passavam de seres humanos comuns. A racionalização dos deuses da antiga religião romana é um aspecto que permeia o pensamento lactanciano no rechaço ao paganismo e na defesa do cristianismo. Nossa hipótese é que, Lactâncio se apropriou da filosofia de Evêmero para construir uma argumentação que visava legitimar o monoteísmo cristão e sua argumentação está associada com as transformações das práticas religiosas do início do século IV d.C. no Império Romano. A hermenêutica da documentação observou processos de apropriação de discurso com os quais se constrói a relação com a filosofia evemerista e o uso de discursos retóricos na reformulação de paradigmas a partir da cultura e filosofia antigas, na reorganização e acomodação de pressupostos a fim de legitimar outras venerações, outros mitos, outros rituais, empreendimento que refletiu uma demanda específica da religiosidade do período.pt_BR
