Resumo
The use of packaging derived from petroleum-derived polymers generates an accelerated production of residues because they are not biodegradable. An alternative solution turns out to be the use of biodegradable packaging. So, the general question of the work was, what is the best raw material, easily accessible to family farmers, to produce a biodegradable film for use in small fruit productions? A completely randomized design was used for this study, with four treatments and five repetitions, totaling 20 experimental units. The response variables were: scanning electron microscopy; water activity; thickness; apparent opacity, and solubility in water. After the statistical analysis, through analysis of variance and test, Scott-Knott determined the best treatment based on the performance of biodegradable films in response to the variables analyzed. Among the starches evaluated, the one that presented the best results for use in family farming was the coating based on sour powder with better visual aspect in electron microscopy, less water activity, and greater solubility in water.
