Item A caçada da rainha em colinas do sul: um diálogo entre lugar e identidades(2015-12) Bretas, Isabella de Faria; Almeida, Maria Geralda deThe “Queen of the Hunt” is a cultural event that takes place in a more traditional way, in the municipality of Colinas do Sul in the state of Goiás and refers to the time of the Brazilian Empire. Participants dress in accordance with their duties, the main are: king, queen, emperor, soldier of the royal guard and others. In this article we argue that the party, through ties of residents and their symbols, signs and representations that come to demarcate a unique culture of the festival in the state, featuring the presence of the place and so needs to be identified and spatialized. Through the Cultural Geography, cultural events gain strength characterized by fresh take on the festive subjects and their customs, discussing the different, the circumstances and modes of representation. Its importance is focused on the analysis of the meaning and the goal is to understand a traditional festival that perspective. It is also investigating how this ritual acts in the transformation of the space in place and creating instead of identities and participants subject. For the achievement of such goals the methodology focused on the theoretical basis and field research that enabled the identification of symbols, feelings, emotions, feelings and meanings of the subject. Inthis sense was reflected also on the human dimension and its connection with the environment, essential to identify the “Queen of the Hunt” as a fact of interaction between subject and space set to place.Item Agroextrativistas e as controvérsias nas políticas sociais e ambientais no assentamento de Maracá, no estado do Amapá(2021-08) Almeida, Maria Geralda deThe creation of the Agroextrativist Settlement Project –PAE –, at Amapá’s south, allowed the installation of a populational parcel that lives trough silvicultureexploration. Incra, the responsible for agrarian settlements, recognized the existence of different forms of land use and of nature-society relations and has created a modality of joint management, which attributes PAE’s associations a participation in the management. This essay’s objective is to analyze if the partnership caused settler empowerment or if it was anauthoritarianstrategy by Incra. The methodological proceedings were interviews with managers of the associations and agroextrativists, analysis of Incra’s and the main association’s documents, and bibliographical research of theses and dissertations pertinent to this subject. It can be deduced that INCRA, from the beginning, has adopted inappropriate procedures, the settlers have intentional dissonance in their actions, intentions and even in management. Incra acts by being authoritarian, it makes omissions and its neglect impoverishes the Utilization Plan, main document for the settlement’s management.Item O agronégocio e as potencialidades turísticas do município de Rio Verde-Go(2007-12) Castillo Pizarro, Roberto Eduardo; Almeida, Maria Geralda deThis article discusses how agribusinesses allows or not the creation or favours tourism in Rio Verde town. Expositions related to cattle-raising and agriculture, such as Agrishow- COMIGO are examples of strategies of marketing and publicity for cattle raising, agriculture and technologic agriculture products. Besides those events, the increase of the rate of occupation in the hotel network in the last years raised the idea of developing tourism in the city. The touristic potential of the city is ignored by businessmen involved with lodging, foods and beverages. Inexperience affects also public agents in charge of tourism promotion, creating obstacles to the development of tourism as a new economic activity in the town.Item O agronegócio e o estado do Tocantins: o atual estágio de consolidação(2007-06) Silva, Antenor Roberto Pedroso da; Almeida, Maria Geralda deTo explore the way agricultural is a historical activity in Brazil. Since the arrival of the Portuguese, the country lived its economy based on agriculture. For these, to explore the way agricultural it Brazil was more than a economic option, was a necessity, due to the fact of the small extension of land of its country. With this, the food production and spices for the Crown depended on lands of its colony. Ahead of this, an agriculture directed toward the exportation was developed and, together with this, the monoculture produced in great extensions of land. It can be said that this politics continues until today, as in the case of the production of soy, maize and cotton and others. This description, ally to favorable the climatic conditions and of ground, became Brazil a country with great agricultural potential, what in it put them to a position of prominence in the world-wide agribusiness. The intention of this work is to show the current period of training of evolution of the agribusiness in the Tocantins, showing the steps that must be given so that this activity if it consolidates in the place and either an important source of income and job for the inhabitants. Item As (não)representações da paisagem no movimento cubista: percursos e inquietações geográficas nas pinturas de Albert Gleizes(2020-04) Freitas, Jéssica Soares de; Almeida, Maria Geralda deThe Cubist movement, which breaks with the structures of the painting, also breaks with its genres. In this essay, it will be presented as Cubism, from the perspective of the works of Abert Gleizes, can contribute to the study of representation and landscape in Cultural Geography. When considering that the movement broke with more impact on the representation and the genre of landscape painting, it aims to understand the concept of landscape and its (non)representation based on Cubism. For this, a study was carried out mainly in essays constituted at the time of movement and in art history books together with geographical texts. As the main methodology, creative geographies were used, to bring art together in dialogue with Geography. With such motivations, it can be concluded that, if there was a rupture, the genre of the landscape is still in painting, as well as the representation. Moreover, this representation is looked parallel to its limits, when understanding non-representation, when understanding the experience of the landscape as a practice. Item Culturas desviantes: espacialidades dos povos ribeirinhos do Vale do Guaporé(2008-12) Santos, Avacir Gomes dos; Almeida, Maria Geralda deLa compreension space-temps est-elle un phenomène naturel? Cultural landscapes are interpreted in the context of their complexity involving subjectivity and objectivity. The landscape emerges into a natural environmental and cultural resource, whose value then becomes relative. The cultural goods obtain a value that the society, through social practices, can be use to enhance the market. Tourism reinvents cultural heritgae which is analyzed from the perspective of UNESCO, IPHAN and the Brasilian Constitution. It concludes many meanings of the symbolic landscape that primarily talk about the men that created them. The landscape and territory are aspects marked by elements of heritage which are signs of the trajectory of the society that trigger memory and situates groups, defining their identity. Item A dimensão territorial das festas populares natalinas e do turismo: estudo comparativo do patrimonio imaterial em Goiás, Ceará e Sergipe(2011) Almeida, Maria Geralda de; Oliveira, Christian Dennys Monteiro de; Vargas, Maria Augusta MundimItem Ecotourism community enterprises and ethnodevelopment: modelling the Kalunga empowerment possibilities in the brazilian savannah(2016) Lima, Ismar Borges de; Kumble, Peter A.; Almeida, Maria Geralda de; Chaveiro, Eguimar Felício; Ferreira, Lara Cristine Gomes; Mota, Rosiane DiasThis paper investigates the Kalunga community demands for income generation through ecotourism enterprises in the north of Goias State, in the Brazilian savannah. As part of the analysis, the paper discusses the main aspects of the community empowerment framework. It identifies the existing natural and cultural assets of the Kalunga and the community need for capacity building aimed at dealing with a growing tourism business and managing visitors. This afro-descendant community expects ecotourism to serve as a development as a catalyst for economic development by propitiating financial independence through ecotourism community enterprises. These issues require the elaboration of an ethnic operational business model for the community, which is one of the main contributions of this paper. There is insufficient literature on the Kalunga maroon community, particularly related to ethnic-based business and enterprises. This paper investigating the Kalunga is important because it can reveal ‘the silences’ and the ‘innermost facts’ of a slow, but evolving process of social and economic emancipation of this African-descendant group, one that in the past (date) highly segregated itself from enslavement. This paper also makes an original contribution to research knowledge by comprehensively examining the possibilities for community empowerment from the within as an ethnodevelopment process. The main issues lie in the fact that the Kalunga cannot continue to be perceived by outsiders as ‘cheap labour’ on their own lands; they must take ownership of their own assets, means for survival and long-term fate. The research is predominantly qualitative based on field research, participant observation, interviews with key informants, and written survey with a focus group. Item Evocativos experienciais dos vínculos de lugar: ensaio acerca da geograficidade de ser-no-mundo(2018-07) Souza Júnior, Carlos Roberto Bernardes de; Almeida, Maria Geralda deAs spaces with definition and sense, places are expressions of human geographicity. Made by the means of the inseparability of place and its geographical reality, place attachments enroll the relational dynamics of being-in-the-world. It is intended, thus, to unravel how the attachment’s and corporeality’s theories can potentialize the studies of place as a concept on contemporary cultural and humanistic geography. In order to do so, a process of immersion and bibliographical interpretation concerning the theoretical field of phenomenology, particularly Merleau-Ponty’s existentialist approach, was realized. By the means of this conductive knot, it is comprehended that the horizon of geographical reality, centered on Earth-dwelling, indicates the tangles of being’s signification. It is unraveled that subject-place becoming is ontologically connected to the presentification and corporeality of place attachments in their existential amplitudes. This experiential web of temporality centered upon the instant must, thus, be comprehended as a dynamic whole in which places and subjects are metamorphosed in continuous reciprocity.Item Expansão do sagrado: a territorialidade da Igreja Católica em Sergipe - Brasil(2011) Bonjardim, Solimar Guindo Messias; Almeida, Maria Geralda deItem Experiências com as identidades goianas no ensino fundamental de geografia(Tadeu Alencar Arrais, 2009-12-30) Borges, Joyce Almeida; Almeida, Maria Geralda deThis article has the goal of discussing about how the goiana identities are approached in the Geography education in Goiânia, and how the students conceive what is to be goiano, and what is part of their identities. Over it we identify the education contributions in the identity speeches construction having as reference the students and teachers perception. The problematical assumed around the theme is that in the contemporaneity it is necessary to discuss the cultural diversity, the sociocultural and territorial identical conflicts for that the students would be able to recognize themselves as sociocultural subject, building an environment of respect to the different identities. However to ally such thematics to the Geography education is a challenge. In the beginning it was identified that the didactic books did not point the referred themes neither the goiana cultural reality in its geographic interpreta¬tions. Teachers and students gave testimony about this reality in the Geography education. The methodological procedures used to the article realization were readings, straight techniques to the field, interviews, question¬naires, mental maps, reports and pictures.Item Frontières sociales et identités dans l’état du Goias: une étude de cas à partir du complexe hydroélectrique de la Serra da Mesa (Brésil)(2011) Almeida, Maria Geralda deThis article aims at discussing the notions of territory, borders and territoriality. As a case, the article focuses on the social relations which were created with the construction of the Serra da Mesa Hydroelectric Power Plant in the northern region of Goias state. The meaning of the word ‘border’ is ambiguous and not broadly debated in the Geography field. In this article, ‘border’ is regarded as a socio-spatial boundary. ‘Border’ will be discussed by taking into account its implications for the configuration of the territory and for the understanding of identity and otherness that ascertain the identity territories. The analysis ends up with different perspectives to the territories and territorialities with regard to new social dynamics and persistence and the construction of identities. Item Geografar emoções e cartografar sentimentos e cultura(2018-12) Almeida, Maria Geralda de; Bonjardim, Solimar Guindo MessiasThe present study aims to bring to light about the geographer, professor and researcher Maria Augusta Mundim Vargas and her main discussions within Geography.
