The purpose of the studing is to analyze the unit focused on the comic books of the textbook (LD) Novo Pitanguá ARTE - 5th Year, by the Moderna publisher. The choice of this LD was because it was the only one, among 10 books to which we had access, that has a unit dedicated to comics. The research seeks to understand how comics are presented to students in Visual Arts classes in elementary school. There is a contextualization of the relationship between comics and education, from the pursuit to acceptance in the school context; the history of LDs and the inclusion of the discipline of Arts in books; and the BNCC perspective on the use of comic books in the teaching of Arts. The methodology starts from the analysis of textual-imagetic content of the selected textbook. As a partial result of the research, it is perceived that the material fulfills the purpose of introducing the language of comics in a playful and comprehensive way, even having points to be rethought by teachers.
