Resumo

This study aimed to understand the contributions of teaching visual arts in inclusive school contexts, as well as to identify their contributions in teaching visual arts to students with disabilities; conduct interviews with art teachers who work in inclusive school contexts; understand the legislation that ensures the inclusion of people with disabilities in the educational and social sphere; with the purpose of discussing the teaching of visual arts as a possibility to include children with disabilities. The methodological steps were based on studies of theoretical references and interviews with art teachers. From the data analysis, it was possible to see that art education creates involvement, building relationships between the student and the environment, in an interactive process, enabling the cognitive, social and cultural development of students with disabilities.
