I find the romance in time and space to then discuss the sociospacial segregation, the labor and peasant emigration occurred in Goiania. In addition, I discuss issues related to modernity and progress, which ended up being recurring themes in the historiography of Goiás, and I point out the ambivalence in response to the questions about the modern and nonmodern conditions of the city. Also, I highlight some aspects of leisure and politics present throughout the novel and which raise the possibility that some aspirations, found in the book, are indicative of future expectations for revealing part of its present and past.Item Os romancistas da Abolição: representação do escravo e discurso abolicionista nas obras de Bernardo Guimarães e Joaquim Manuel de Macedo(Universidade Federal de Goiás, 2012-04-26) ALVES, Marcos Francisco; ALENCAR, Maria Amélia Garcia de; http://lattes.cnpq.br/7665566532275199By comparing the two authors of literary conception, Bernardo Guimarães and Joaquim Manuel de Macedo on slavery/abolition, this work aims to discuss the abolitionist debates of the late nineteenth century and its representations of the slave. It attempts to show how the literary representation of slavery appears in the work of two writers and how it dialogues with the debates of the abolitionist period. The dissertation conceives the two authors as the "novelists of Abolition", analyzes the abolitionist discourse and how the slave is represented in the novels A Escrava Isaura and Uma história de quilombolas (Bernardo Guimarães) and As vítimas algozes: quadros da escravidão (Joaquim Manuel de Macedo). Both Bernardo Guimarães and Joaquim Manuel de Macedo romanticized the slave life, calling for the abolition, but their ideas have profound differences. Comparing and contrasting ideas present in the novels, we will examine the figure of the slave and abolitionist debate, dialogue with the context in which these works were written: the long process for the abolition of slavery in Brazil.Item Regime de memória romano: imagens do herói Héracles nos escritos de Luciano de Samósata (século II d.C.)(Universidade Federal de Goiás, 2008-02-28) ARANTES JÚNIOR, Edson; GONÇALVES, Ana Teresa Marques; lattes.cnpq.br/7049736226460820Based on literature and on the analysis of texts by Lucian of Samosata, who was a Syrian author from the second century of the Christian era, the present essay aims to pose a few questions about a very influent historiographic construct: the idealization of the antonine era. To elucidate the problem, we have elaborated the concept of memory regime, which seeks to encompass the metanarrative limits that are necessary for the construction of the discourses. For such, we debated the ways in which the elite of the Roman Empire built an imperial culture, based on dialogue with the dominated cultures hence this paper debates the notion of Romanization. We have also pointed out the ways in which the discourses are validated by historical agents and some processes that involved the art of memory, a knowledge deeply rooted in the heart of roman aristocracy. We blended similar theoretical constructions with one clear example: the myth of Heracles and its diverse representations in Lucian of Samosata s writings, a mythical element whose analysis is fundamental, since the imperial propaganda of the antonine era is permeated with it. Therefore, this paper strives to show how this golden era of roman history presents conflicts even if they are in the form of representationItem Tradição, modernidade e as bênçãos da Igreja Católica na construção de Goiânia, 1932-1942(Universidade Federal de Goiás, 2011-12-20) ARAUJO JUNIOR, Edson Domingues de; SILVA, Maria da Conceição; http://lattes.cnpq.br/4692350881823681This study analyses the coexistence and interaction of modern and traditional symbolic elements within Goiânia's construction and consolidation process, from 1932 to 1942. Focus has been given to the debate regarding contradictions of the discourse of change, based on modernity and on rupture with tradition. To the new political groups in power during the early 1930s, the building of the new capital meant a separation from Goiás State's former days, conceived as decadent and traditional, and the beginning of a political order which placed Goiás on the path to progress and to socio-economic and cultural development. The hypothesis guiding this study seeks to demonstrate that, unlike what the official discourse tended to publicize, Goiânia was built on a dialectics that brought together several symbols and elements from both tradition and modernity. The support offered by the Catholic Church to the government led by Pedro Ludovico Teixeira, concerning the project of building the city and transferring Goiás' administrative headquarters, consists of highly significant evidence not only of the interaction between modern and traditional elements in the construction of Goiânia, but also of the use of traditional symbols as mechanisms that politically legitimise the new political leaders in Goiás.Item Filosofia da história em Fredric Jameson: uma crítica às aporias do pós-modernismo(Universidade Federal de Goiás, 2010-10-01) BAIOCCHI, Ana Beatriz Carvalho; BERBERT JUNIOR, Carlos Oiti; http://lattes.cnpq.br/8528822272178341The aim of this study is the attempt to retake the problem of Marxist philosophical discourse, that is, to implement a philosophy of history in a postmodern discussion of these metanarrativas crisis. In this sense the choise of the author Fredric Jameson is closely related to their position regarding the debate on postmodern. Against all expectations in relation to post-modern theories of crisis metanarrativas, the author think the postmodern in a less pessimistic in a narrative reflect on what Marxist discussion and its relationship with history. However, the assessment in relation to the concept of totality before running through a critical theoretical categories of modernism (its ideology and utopia intrinsic) rather than the process of aggregation of the system. Thus, the questions of Fredric Jameson in relation to post-modern theories renewing him examining the superstructure of artistic and textual phenomena, which allows you to have a panoramic view over the contemporary cultural sphere. This artist is an important character for the understanding of the transformations occurred in the Mexican society under the revolutionary context. The Mexican Revolution succeeded in motivating and involving the whole society and, due to the great popular participation in the uprisings, engendered the need to rethink this population contingent, surpassing the political and military character, and greatly affecting the culture. The muralist movement, on which Siqueiros took part, was significant to this question, since it tried to represent the inferior classes, inserting them in the official discourse. Under this perspective it is valid to point out that the analysis of the construction of identities is intrinsically connected to the social and political imaginary. In the Latin-American countries and especially in Mexico, object of this study, this relationship is directly connected to the notion of miscegenation. We cannot discuss Mexican identity without taking into consideration this question that is crystalline in the muralist movement and consequently in the work of Siqueiros. This identitary process is essential for the individual to engender the nation since it makes possible the integration between individual and society, despite its ocurrence in a contradictory manner, since it includes and excludes simultaneously. Hence, the emphasis of this work consists in the comprehension of how the Mexican historical context supported the Siqueirian identitary discourse.Item A comunicação popular, o debate e o processo constituinte no Brasil (1977 - 1988)(Universidade Federal de Goiás, 2012-03-19) BARBOSA, Mariana de Oliveira Lopes; MACIEL, David; lattes.cnpq.br/3587511267893434The period and theme that will be addressed in this dissertations concerns the debate and the constitutional process of formulation of the 1988 Constitution in Brazil, which began in 1977 on the occasion of the beginning of the distension and slow and gradual political opening of the New Republic Military Dictatorship, therefore, defined as the time frame between 1977 and 1988, in other words, the release of the package in April and early discussions on the Constituent Assembly the enactment of the Constitution in October 1988. The vampire, in popular culture, represents the supreme evil, for them, the foreigners, which do not have the same religion and simbology, being cursed by their God and obligated to walk on the living world, even after death. Studding this character of the popular imaginary, the english intellectual Sabine Baring-Gould change and bring it to the Victorian England mass culture. The evil represented by the vampire is no more the one that was exotic for the Balcanic people, but the foreigner for the english perspective, the uncivilized natives from the colonies. Based in Sabine Baring-Gould, Bram Stoker wrote his gothic fiction book, Drácula, as a way to propagate, for the Victorian citizens, the neocolonialist values of chastity, honor, civilization and xenophobia. Stoker‟s book, besides being a very popular entertainment book, is also famous for the exaltations to the civilized world denizen, the inhabitant of the colonial potencies, in their dominance relationship over the colonial people, the inhabitants of the dark corners of the world, presenting them as monsters capable of the worst depravationsItem Foucault, o corpo e a filosofia(Universidade Federal de Goiás, 2008-06-13) BRITO, Vinícius Vieira; SALOMON, Marlon Jeison; http://lattes.cnpq.br/0631789010231492Item AS REPRESENTAÇÕES DA GUERRA CIVIL E A CONSTRUÇÃO DA NAÇÃO MOÇAMBICANA NOS ROMANCES DE MIA COUTO (1992 2000)(Universidade Federal de Goiás, 2009-07-03) CAMPOS, Josilene Silva; RABELO, Danilo; http://lattes.cnpq.br/4278387419597282This work has as main aims to analyze the reconfiguration of Mozambican national identity after the Civil War, and to show how this new discourse is represented in Mia Couto's novels, namely: A Sleepwalking Land, Under the Frangipani and The Last Flight Of The Flamingo. The purpose is to think how this internal conflict was presented as a divisor of waters while it calls into question concepts of nationality forged by FRELIMO, and establishes an idea of nation aligned with the perspective of cultural difference. Therefore, this study presents some directions related with Mozambican history and literature. The latter is used a source since it is a type of knowledge formed in the imaginary understood as ideas and images of representation that give meaning to the identities. This kind of mental construction allows us a privileged access to the sensibilities of a time, the experiences in life and the constructed discursiveness. They produce significations that allow us to know some society conceptions and different perceptions of historical process. The theoretical structure of this dissertation is base on authors as Homi K. Bhabha, Benedict Anderson, Frantz Fanon, Hannah Arendt among others. Although there is no theoretical and methodological exclusivity, this research adopts the post-colonial perspective and stands out the locus of enunciation of the subaltern subject. That direction is due to comprehension of the importance of a knowledge construction which seeks the deconstruction of the essentialism and criticizes the homogenized conceptions of historical knowledge.Item Aspectos positivos da administração imperial de Tibério César Augusto nos anais de Tácito(Universidade Federal de Goiás, 2008-04-04) CAMPOS, Rafael da Costa; GONÇALVES, Ana Teresa Marques; lattes.cnpq.br/7049736226460820This dissertation has as objective to establish an analysis about the essential positive aspects of the political administration of the Emperor Tiberius Caesar Augustus during his government (14 37 A.D), throughout the historical narrative of Publius Cornelius Tacitus (55 117? F.This dissertation investigates the conception of history in Machado de Assis' literature and thinking on literature, seeking to demonstrate how they set up the possibility of anonymous people being considered subjects of history. Asserting the equality of the indifference, they question the core of the conception of history of the 19th century Brazilian historians. According to them, there is history because there is inequality, because there are men who are worth of eternal memory and lives destined to oblivion. Claiming the "principle of any representable" and making equal the distinguished and the anonymous, Machado de Assis refused a partition of the sensible which gives each one its own place: for national literature, national themes; for history, the distinguished man. Stablishing a "thinking of the new disorder" (Jacques Rancière), Assis' work admits to turn into objects of history and literature those that, by definition, were once excluded: the anyone, and the anything.Item O Rosário de Aninha: os sentidos da devoção rosarina na escritura de Anna Joaquina(Universidade Federal de Goiás, 2008-11-28) CARVALHO, Euzebio Fernandes de; SILVA, Maria da Conceição; http://lattes.cnpq.br/4692350881823681We analyze the rosaryan devotion in the City of Goiás from the Memorial of Memory, written between 1881 and 1930, by Anna Joaquina Marques.
