Item type: Item , Doenças tropicais negligenciadas: Análise da participação de organismos internacionais na implementação de políticas públicas e na legislação brasileira(Universidade Federal de Goiás, 2025-03-25) Silva, Walter de Paula; Oliveira, Ana Maria de; http://lattes.cnpq.br/0162295374076686; Zapata, Marco Tulio Antonio Garcia; http://lattes.cnpq.br/3672512339058369; Zapata, Marco Tulio Antonio Garcia; Barbosa, Maria Alves; Rocha, Danilo di Paiva Malheiros; Mrue, Fátima; Santos, Pedro Sérgio dosNeglected Tropical Diseases (NTDs) predominantly affect vulnerable populations in low- and middle-income countries, perpetuating health inequalities. This thesis presents a comparative analysis of public policies from the United Nations (UN) System, the World Health Organization (WHO), and the Pan American Health Organization (PAHO), alongside the Brazilian legislative framework related to NTDs. How have these regulations and public policies been implemented, and how can we improve them to ensure more effective and equitable responses? The general objective is to verify the existence of global and national norms and public policies aimed at addressing NTDs. The specific objectives are: to evaluate the implementation and impact of international norms and public policies related to NTDs developed by the United Nations (UN, WHO, and PAHO); to identify challenges, gaps, and suggestions in the implementation of global public policies on NTDs; to analyze the content, sufficiency, and quality of Brazilian legislative norms on NTDs at the Federal, State (focusing on Goiás), and Municipal (focusing on Goiânia) levels; and to propose strategic improvements to enhance public policies on NTDs. The research is justified by the persistent gap between the reality of NTDs and the insufficient implementation of public policies to address them. This study aims to strengthen the alignment between science, governance, and legislation, promoting more effective and equitable responses for historically neglected populations. The methodology was based on a scoping review of global policies and an integrative review of national legislation. The results indicate that, at the international level, policies on NTDs are limited and have low practical applicability. In Brazil, the omission of the National Congress results in fragmented actions that are misaligned with global guidelines. It is concluded that there is a significant gap both globally and nationally, emphasizing the urgent need for greater leadership from the Brazilian Parliament in addressing NTDs.Item type: Item , Expressão de individualidade biológica na periodontite usando algorítmo específico e o Método Salus(Universidade Federal de Goiás, 2025-08-18) Véras, Lázaro Gutto Fonseca; Roriz, Virgílio Moreira; http://lattes.cnpq.br/4602848040014140; Estrela, Carlos; http://lattes.cnpq.br/3611967334176683; Estrela, Carlos; Reges, Rogério Vieira; Calaça, Germana Jayme Borges; Silva, Júlio Almeida; Guedes, Orlando AguirrePeriodontitis is a multifactorial inflammatory condition associated with the accumulation of dysbiotic biofilm and is highly prevalent among adults. It leads to the progressive destruction of periodontal tissues and may result in tooth loss. The Salus method employs Validated Computerized Dermatoglyphics (DIV) for biometric analysis of fingerprints through a specific algorithm within the Science software. This software has been used as a marker of biological individuality in various clinical conditions. This study aimed to determine dermatoglyphic patterns in individuals with a clinical diagnosis of periodontitis, applying a specific algorithm from the Science software. A total of 157 participants (30 females), aged between 30 and 64 years, were evaluated. The periodontitis group included 62 individuals (mean age: 53.7 years), while the control group, composed of healthy individuals, comprised 95 participants (55 females; mean age: 48.2 years). In the periodontitis group, clinical periodontal examination confirmed probing pocket depths of at least 4 mm (stages III and IV). In the control group, periodontal health was verified by the absence of periodontal pockets during probing. All participants underwent a digital fingerprint scan of all ten fingers using the Salus method to assess fingerprint pattern type and ridge count per finger. After fingerprint capture, the images were analyzed using the Science software algorithm, which included noise reduction, classification of fingerprint patterns, identification of cores and deltas, tracing of Galton lines, and ridge count processing. For the statistical analysis, the Kolmogorov-Smirnov, Student’s t-test, Mann-Whitney, and Fisher’s Exact tests were used. The significance level was set at 0.05. Comparative analysis between the groups with (n = 62) and without periodontitis (n = 95) showed similar demographic and anthropometric characteristics, except for age, which was significantly higher in the periodontitis group (p = 0.004). No significant differences were found in weight, height, or gender distribution, indicating homogeneity between the samples. Regarding qualitative dermatoglyphic patterns, the ulnar loop (LU) was the most frequent pattern across all fingers in both groups. The whorl (W) was the second most common pattern, with a frequency greater than 30% in specific fingers—MET2, MDT2, and MDT4 in the case group, and MET4, MDT2, and MDT4 in the control group. Other patterns, such as S-type whorl (WS), radial loop (LR), and arch (A), were infrequent. However, no statistically significant differences were observed in the distribution of fingerprint patterns between groups (p > 0.05), suggesting that periodontitis does not influence qualitative dermatoglyphic profiles. Quantitative analysis also showed similarities between groups. The average number of ridges per finger was comparable, with total ridge counts per hand and per individual nearly identical (113.7 in the periodontitis group and 112.6 in the control group). Delta distribution was also consistent with typical loop patterns, with one delta per finger being the most common. The mean number of deltas was 13.2 in the periodontitis group and 12.7 in the control group, with no statistically significant difference. The analysis of the total number of fingerprint patterns by type revealed similar distributions regarding medians and interquartile ranges, with no statistical differences across all categories assessed (W, WS, UL, RL, and A). Based on the methodology employed, it can be concluded that there is no significant association between dermatoglyphic patterns, both qualitative and quantitative, and the clinical presence of periodontitis. Despite the shared genetic origin between digital ridges and ectodermal structures, the data do not support the existence of a specific dermatoglyphic profile for individuals with periodontitis. The predominance of ulnar loop (UL) patterns and the similarity in ridge and delta counts between groups reinforce the absence of relevant phenotypic differences in digital patterns related to the disease. Thus, based on the evaluated sample and the method used, the validated computerized dermatoglyphics did not prove effective as a standalone biometric marker for identifying or screening individuals with periodontitis.Item type: Item , Aspectos clínicos e de neurodesenvolvimento em uma coorte de crianças potencialmente expostas ao Zika vírus na gestação, em Goiás(Universidade Federal de Goiás, 2022-07-09) Gomes, Maria Bárbara Franco; Turchi, Marilia Dalva; http://lattes.cnpq.br/3769826743537934; Amaral, Waldemar Naves do; http://lattes.cnpq.br/4092560599116579; Amaral, Waldemar Naves do; http://lattes.cnpq.br/4092560599116579; Alves, Rosane Ribeiro Figueiredo; http://lattes.cnpq.br/8335736301768972; Marques, Solomar Martins; http://lattes.cnpq.br/5168936259198176; Sousa, Juarez Antonio de Sousa; http://lattes.cnpq.br/4484429936026476; Ferreira, Rui Gilberto; http://lattes.cnpq.br/3863770221302482Introduction: Zika virus (ZIKV) infection is on the World Health Organization's list of priority emerging diseases due to its potential to cause severe congenital infections and long-term development deficits in asymptomatic neonates. Objective: To describe the clinical and epidemiological characteristics and the neuropsychomotor development of a cohort of 111 children potentially exposed in utero to ZIKV. Method: This is a cohort of children of pregnant women with exanthematic disease and potentially exposed to ZIKV laboratory-confirmed by molecular and/or serological tests and children with dysmorphias suggestive of Congenital Zika Syndrome (CZS), in the State of Goiás, in the period from 2016 to 2020, followed in reference services for high-risk pregnancy, which were measured anthropometric parameters, morphological and functional alterations were investigated and submitted to clinical evaluation and neurobehavioral development with application of the Bayley III neurodevelopmental scale Results: We followed 86 children, 58 mothers with positive tests for prenatal ZIKV and 14 children with dysmorphias suggestive of CZS. Of these, in 52, the Bayley III tests were applied, an instrument for evaluating child development from 2017 to 2020. The absolute risk of microcephaly among children whose mothers were confirmed and suspected with ZIKV was 5.4%. 15.5% of children of pregnant women suspected or confirmed from ZIKV exposure had some dysmorphia related to CZS. We observed the occurrence of 86.5% delay in at least one of the Bayley III domains and in children without microcephaly were delays in the cognitive domain 12.8%, language 33.3% motor domain 25.6%, socioemotional domain 17.9% and global adaptive behavior 76.9%. Conclusion: Symptomatic and children apparently asymptomatic, had some degree of delay or dysfunction, and should be accompanied by specialized teams since follow-up with appropriate interventions can minimize sequelae and correct deviations from normality.Item type: Item , Radioterapia adjuvante para câncer de colo uterino em estágios iniciais de risco intermediário pós-histerectomia radical(Universidade Federal de Goiás, 2025-08-27) Silva, Pedro Henrique Costa Matos da; Santos, Rodrigo da Silva; http://lattes.cnpq.br/4806187026900959; Reis, Angela Adamski da Silva; http://lattes.cnpq.br/3243656364470085; Reis, Angela Adamski da Silva; Conde, Délio Marques; Franchi, Leonardo Pereira; Silveira, Luciana Carvalho; Moreira, Andre Luis EliasEmbargadoItem type: Item , Prevalência e Espectro de Fenótipos Cognitivos na Esclerose Múltipla e Fatores de Risco Relacionados(Universidade Federal de Goiás, 2022-12-14) Rabelo, Andréia Costa; Diniz, Denise Sisterolli; http://lattes.cnpq.br/5139602841690387; Caixeta, Leonardo Ferreira; http://lattes.cnpq.br/9536747113677509; Caixeta, Leonardo Ferreira; Teixeira Júnior, Antônio Lúcio; Damasceno, Benito Pereira; Ferreira, Sandra de Fátima Barboza; Schewinsky, Sandra Regina: Cognitive impairment (CI) is recognized as a prevalent and disabling symptom in Multiple Sclerosis (MS), compromising activities of daily living (ADLs), employability, social life and adherence to treatment, sometimes more intensely than physical limitations themselves. Objectives: This study aimed is describe the spectrum and prevalence of CI phenotypes in MS in patients from a referral center in the city of Goiânia, potential risk factors and how they may be related to the evolution of the disease. Methods: A sample of 117 people with MS (PwMS) from a university reference center was selected, diagnosed according to McDonald’s revised criteria and evaluated cognitively, psychologically and functionally with the following instruments: Brief Repeatable Battery of Neuropsychological Tests in Multiple Sclerosis (BRB-N), Beck Depression Inventory- 2ª edition (BDI-II), Beck Anxiety Inventory (BAI) and Expanded Disability Status Scale (EDSS). Results: We found CI in 60.7% of the sample, with 25.6% classified as mild and 35.1% severe, of which 17.1% met criteria for dementia. Conclusions: MS generates mild cognitive impairment (MCI) in patients and can increase the possibility of dementia with MS dementia being specific and associated with the motor severity of the disease.Item type: Item , Efeito da fortificação e suplementação de ácido fólico nos níveis séricos e indicadores antropométricos de crianças: Ensaio clínico randomizado(Universidade Federal de Goiás, 2025-05-27) Carvalho, Maria das Graças Freitas de; Hadler, Maria Claret Costa Monteiro; http://lattes.cnpq.br/6754793957094104; Hadler, Maria Claret Costa Monteiro; Silva, Lara Lívia Santos da; Peixoto, Maria do Rosário Gondim; Reis, Roberta Sena; Barbosa, Maria AlvesFolic acid is a water-soluble B-complex vitamin (vitamin B9) that plays an essential role in DNA synthesis and repair, cell division, and blood cell formation, making it a key nutrient in food fortification and supplementation policies. Fortification with multiple micronutrients has been widely adopted in several countries as a public health strategy to prevent nutritional deficiencies, especially among young children. Objective: To assess the impact of folic acid fortification and supplementation on serum folate levels, average monthly weight gain (Article 1), and changes in the distribution of serum folate categories (Article 2) in Brazilian children aged 6 to 42 months. Methods: This was an open-label, randomized, controlled, parallel-group clinical trial using a cluster design. Data collection was conducted from March 2018 to March 2019 in 10 Municipal Early Childhood Education Centers (CMEIs) in Goiânia (GO), Brazil. Clinical, socioeconomic, anthropometric, dietary, and biochemical variables were evaluated. Statistical tests included Kolmogorov–Smirnov (normality), KruskalWallis (weight gain comparisons by folate category), Student’s t-test (mean differences between intervention groups), multiple linear regression (weight gain), and in Article 2, McNemar’s test and multinomial logistic regression to analyze serum folate categories before and after the intervention. Results: In Article 1, involving 167 children, participants were allocated based on anemia diagnosis and received either powdered multiple micronutrient fortification or liquid supplementation with iron and folic acid. At baseline, 4.8% had folate deficiency, 43.1% normal levels, and 52.1% elevated levels. A significant association was found between higher baseline folate levels and greater monthly weight gain (p = 0.001), as well as better z-scores for weight-for-age (p = 0.042), weight-for-height (p = 0.029), and BMIfor-age (p = 0.027), especially among non-anemic children. After the intervention, significant differences remained for weight-for-age (p = 0.002) and height/length-for-age (p = 0.001), according to folate levels, with no differences between intervention types (p = 0.877). The effect of fortification with 150 μg of folic acid via powdered micronutrients was also evaluated against 50 μg via liquid supplementation across four intervention groups. After 15 weeks, there was no significant change in the proportions of folate deficiency or normal status, but a reduction in the prevalence of folate excess was observed in the group receiving ferrous sulfate and folic acid (from 51.8% to 40.5%; p = 0.057). Furthermore, female sex (OR = 2.236; p = 0.049) and younger age (OR = 0.887; p < 0.001) were associated with higher folate levels. These findings suggest a differential metabolic response according to sex and age, even though short-term interventions did not significantly alter the overall classification of folate status. Conclusion: The findings suggest that higher folate levels are associated with improved child growth, although short-term interventions did not lead to significant changes in anthropometric parameters. The lower prevalence of folate excess with reduced doses suggests a possible metabolic adjustment, highlighting the need for individualized supplementation. Long-term and comprehensive strategies are recommended to enhance the benefits and ensure the safety of folic acid use in pediatric populations.Item type: Item , Acurácia dos pontos de corte no exame da timpanometria na triagem auditiva escolar de crianças e sua relação com os níveis de betacaroteno(Universidade Federal de Goiás, 2023-10-11) Câmara, Cláudia Cruvinel; Avelino, Melissa Ameloti Gomes; http://lattes.cnpq.br/0519039948275501; Hadler, Maria Claret Costa Monteiro; http://lattes.cnpq.br/6754793957094104; Hadler, Maria Claret Costa Monteiro; http://lattes.cnpq.br/6754793957094104; Santos, Maria Francisca Colella; http://lattes.cnpq.br/7435162514519377; Monteiro, Marcia Cavadas; http://lattes.cnpq.br/3544223967470017; Silva, Maria Sebastiana; http://lattes.cnpq.br/1329422634395496; Souza, Cejana Baiocchi; http://lattes.cnpq.br/7281941726259520EmbargadoItem type: Item , Esteroides Anabolizantes como Recurso Ergogênico no Treinamento Físico: Estudo Qualiquantitativo e Experimental(Universidade Federal de Goiás, 2015-10-02) Cruz, Anderson Miguel da; Castro, Carlos Henrique; http://lattes.cnpq.br/6354834854727314; Silva, Maria Sebastiana; http://lattes.cnpq.br/1329422634395496; Silva, Maria Sebastiana; Barbosa, Maria Alves; Schmidt, Ademir; Mota, João Felipe; Cominetti, CristianeRegular physical exercise is no longer just leisure option to configure how important adjuvant health strategy. It is inserted in human society since ancient times, linked to war practices, circus, sports and even the survival needs. Nowadays, conducting physical training, especially the force, is part of the practices related to aesthetics, the cult of the body and targeted therapies for body health. For these reasons it is configured as an object of study with singular significance and potential. The combination with pharmacological and nutritional resources may result in the improvement of nosological tables and health upsurge in various situations. Some peculiarities largely fostered by consumer media and the cultural socio make the combination of physical training and use of ergogenic agents hormonal an everyday procedure, for athletes and non-athletes by setting a non-clinical use, classified as self-medication. Objectives: To systematize empirical data related to customs and procederes employed by users of anabolic-androgenic steroids, identify the toxicological composition of the main supplements / drugs found, employed in the fitness area and high sports performance; verify the change in total body mass and bone morphometry of young Wistar rats. Methodology: The study follows a sequential motion in two phases with different dynamics and instruments. Phase I consists of an ethnographic study (quantitative and qualitative) with adults in the city of Goiania, anabolic steroids users, through in-depth interview (recorded) from semi-structured questionnaire (N = 40). Phase II is a biomedical study (toxicology and preclinical). From the pharmacological and supplements / drugs raised in phase I, was made toxicological analysis (HPLC) to identify the chemical composition (Phase IIa), and the systematic use of procedures (structure of courses). The preclinical study designed to investigate the plyometric strength training interaction (in pool with increasing load based on body weight) combined with use of Stanazolol, 0.85 mg / dose. Main results are apresentdos in four articles, 01 with qualiquantitativas features 01 with quantiqualitative profile and 02 with quantitative traits. Most prte of users (75%) admits the use of hormonal anabolic steroids for non-athletes and recognize precisely the potential side effects. Among the most frequently cited drugs, Decadurabolin, Stanazolol and Durateston were the most cited in use alone or in double and triple combinations. The media is seen as highly influential in the choice of the use and trade of ergogenic agents. It featured the use "non-clinical, automedicado" and the practice of polypharmacy. The systematic use is not uniform and displays strong methodological inconsistencies derived from empirical studies conducted by bodybuilding athletes and appropriate inadvertently by the population "non-athlete". The toxicological analysis supplements / medications points out that the composition of the products do not fully contemplate the use of purpose beyond incoherence of the labels, since they do not contain products that hint at the labels and commercial brochures. In preclinical studies (Wistar rat young) there was no significant change in the morphology of the tibia during "one" stanazolol cycle (12 doses). Total body mass showed statistically significant changes for the trained group, trained / medicated and only medicated. Final thoughts: The plyometric strength training (short Abstract xix duration and high intensity), enabled the reduction of total body mass (with and without stanazolol), suggesting that it can be then used in obesity control strategies, enabled a reduction in the index growth of treated animals.Item type: Item , Efeito agudo de intervenções musicoterapêuticas no controle da dor e outros sintomas em pacientes hospitalizados em cuidados paliativos(Universidade Federal de Goiás, 2025-04-25) Santos, Elvira Alves dos; Little is known about the influence of diet and gastric adenocarcinoma. Method: A case-control study was conducted to investigate the association between the dietary intake of gastric adenocarcinoma (AdG) cases and controls in Goiânia between March 2019 and September 2024. The dietary patterns of AdG cases and controls were identified by exploratory factor analysis (EFA). The associations between dietary intake and AdG were verified by binary logistic regression analysis, which was used to estimate the odds ratios between the consumption of processed meats and AdG. All tests considered a significant level of 5%. Results: The main dietary pattern of AdG cases was healthy. Among cases and endoscopic controls, consumption of processed meats equal to or greater than 16 g/day increased the odds of AdG when compared to those with lower consumption (OR 3.16, 95% CI: 1.67; 5.96). Among cases and hospital controls, no increased odds of AdG were observed (OR 1.17, 95% CI: 0.62; 2.20). Conclusion: The healthy dietary pattern of AdG cases is not a determinant of gastric carcinogenesis. Consumption equal to or greater than 16 g/day of processed meat can be considered a risk factor for AdG. These findings have important implications for public health; a better understanding of diet-related risk factors for AdG can be considered in the design of effective and low-cost programs to improve the prevention of this neoplasia, especially in individuals undergoing endoscopy.Item type: Item , Avaliação das interações entre cirurgiões-dentistas, cuidadores e crianças com medo e ansiedade odontológica(Universidade Federal de Goiás, 2025-01-23) Teles, Graziele Lopes; Costa, Luciane Ribeiro de Rezende Sucasas da; http://lattes.cnpq.br/9906371509661305; Costa, Luciane Ribeiro de Rezende Sucasas da; Costa Junior, Áderson Luiz; Moreira, Francine do Couto Lima; Machado, Geovanna de Castro Morais; Tavares, Naraiana de OliveiraEmbargado.
